Updated: July 02, 2020
Starting next week, TAG’s COVID-19 newsletter will be three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). For more information, see our Recommendations for Industry.
In advance of 4th of July holiday, we will not have a newsletter tomorrow! However, as people are considering hanging out in the sun, it is absolutely imperative that you remember to maintain COVID-19 preventive measures and precautions (including: social distancing, mask usage, and frequent washing of hands). For more information, please see our Recommendations for Industry.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic over the last several months, based on TAG's analysis of data from openFDA API, recalls have decreased between the first half of 2019 to the first half of 2020. The Acheson Group commends the food industry and its continued focus on food safety despite the pandemic. But what more can this data tell us about how recalls are reported, managed, and its impacts? FDA has put out a warning to consumers and health care professionals about the potential for some hand sanitizer products containing methanol or wood alcohol! These ingredients are toxic! Read more from the FDA.

Happy Independence Day!
With the 4th of July holiday being a traditional day of family and friend gatherings, it is a good time to remind your workers of the need to continue all the COVID-19 precautions and lessons implemented at your facility during these last several months, specifically masks usage, social distancing, hand hygiene (washing hands), and enhanced cleaning/sanitation.
As depicted in TAG’s face mask/social distancing poster, “Why We Wear Masks,” we expel droplets when we talk, cough, sneeze, sing – and even breathe! Thus, mask wearing and social distancing reduces the potential of a coronavirus-infected person from infecting another. This and other posters are available for free (and in many languages) at our COVID-19 Resources page.
Please remind your employees that they are too valuable – to you and their families – to take risks.
TAG COVID-19 E-news Transition.
The pandemic is still a very active part of our daily lives at our businesses and our homes, but they key to maintaining safety is continuing to follow all the recommendations made since the end of February by TAG and those published by CDC and other health departments.
Since we have shifted from prevention to continued prevention, TAG wishes to ensure every mail you receive from us is valuable and informational. As such, we are transitioning from Monday through Saturday distribution of this e-newsletter to every other day (Monday/Wednesday/Friday).
We will, of course, supplement this with any breaking news and critical recommendations, and be here to answer your questions and needs 24/7. (Give us a call!)
We look forward to continuing to assist you through the continuing challenges of the pandemic, recovery, and our post-lives – whatever and whenever that may be!
As of July 02, 2020 (16:42 ET), there are over 10,776,000 cases (>517,000 deaths) worldwide.
Due to the increasing number of cases in the United States, TAG will move from reporting counts per country to focus on the United States, please see here for the data. For further information regarding worldwide numbers, please refer to John Hopkin University’s aggregate map.
